WSN T-34 upgrade to Tamiya TBU system
WSN re-released the R/C version of the Trumpeter T-34/85 kit ,
but unfortunately the WSN IR-battle-system is NOT compatible with the Tamiya TBU system
therefore the conversion of a T-34 with Tamiya electronics is again a hot project !
below I show what I called a " quick conversion "
( TBU system not installed yet , but the tank is ready for it ! )
I used the Tamiya Pershing electronics for this conversion
since the T-34 uses just small 280 type motor's ( less current-draw as a 380 type ) ,
I did not cut out the original battery-box and use rechargeable AA NIMH battery's
this gives a nice clean layout with less clutter
motor's are wired directly without the bullet-style plugs ,
I use here European style screw-terminal's
turret rotation and gun-elevation
are directly connected to the DMD output's via JST connector's
gearbox is upgraded with metal gear's
additionl option ( not installed yet ) ball-bearing's on the outdrive's with bushing's from Daryl
( outdrive's have an odd-ball dimension , Daryl make's bushing's to install ball-bearing's )
replacement of the weak plastic suspension-arm's is a must
I used here Daryl's machined aluminum suspension arm's
even thought using ball-bearing's in the road-wheel's is a nice upgrade ,
but there is also a cheaper way with just nylon bushing's as an alternative
to get the typical sagging look of the track's , I installed metal track's
and they both are doing custom-job's as well ...
