Bachmann's 2-6-6-2 Mallet

this new Bachmann 2-6-6-2 Baldwin Mallet
is a fantastic detailed and good running model .
With 2 motors , 1 for each drive-assembly , this mallet should have some good pulling-power .
To my surprise it runs very smooth and is not as fast as some other locomotives out there ,
means it has a nice gear-ratio with good torque
very good suspension , each axle moves individual to the others ,
therefore it handles very nice even on uneven tracks

and here a size-comparison to my modified 2-8-0

the 2-8-0 shown to the right has a lifted cab and boiler ,
since I use that one in my 1/16 scale environment for my trucks and tanks
see also 2-8-0 in 1-16 scale

even thought large , this 2-6-6-2 has not that big scale appearance as my modified 2-8-0
I will probably leave this 2-6-6-2 the way it is
and use it in my LGB ( 1/18 to 1/22 ) environment as a work-horse

yeah , I know , that tender doesn't belong there ,
but since I did not had changed the couplers on the 2-6-6-2 prior taking these photos I just stuck it on there ...

this 2-6-6-2 goes nice with my kit-bashed LGB Sumper Valley ( with German Mallet - LGB 2085 - body )
